Part of the A4217 will close between 8am and 5pm on Sunday 1 November 2026 while Skyline works continue. The southbound lane between Brunel Way and White Rock Roundabout will be shut, with a signed diversion through Landore and Hafod on the west side of the river. Pentre-Chwyth Road (B5444) stays open but has temporary traffic lights near the A4217 junction. Expect busier traffic on Foxhole Road and Kilvey Road that day.
Remains of a small stone building found near the summit
While stripping topsoil in August, the builders found the remains of a small building on top of the hill. Skyline says it has been cleaned, recorded and fenced off with help from Archaeology Wales, and that it is talking about how the site's story can be kept for the future.
Skyline published a new access map showing which Kilvey Hill paths are open, which are closed for now and where diversions run. You can still cross the hill between Bonymaen and St Thomas using a signed temporary route.

BBC: work on the luge (downhill karting) tracks has begun
The BBC reported that ground preparation for the downhill karting tracks is under way on the £49m project, and that work has also started at Landore Park & Ride for the gondola base station. Public access to the hill stays open, with a safety zone around active work. Some campaigners still oppose the scheme.
Skyline said tree felling would continue along the approved gondola corridor over the following weeks and months. A banksman manages safe passage where a path crosses the work area. Skyline says felled material is mulched and replaced with native planting.
WalesOnline's local democracy reporter covered details of Swansea Council's planned investment of up to £10.2m in the project, which the council expects to be repaid.
Fencing and diversions on the hill; Landore Park & Ride stays open
Fencing went up around active work areas on the hill and at Landore Park & Ride. Swansea Council approved a temporary diverted route across the hill between Bonymaen and St Thomas. The Park & Ride stays open, but with fewer parking spaces.

Skyline announced that main construction was starting: earthworks on the hill for the luge tracks, drainage systems, and groundworks at Landore Park & Ride for the gondola base station.
